One of the ‘tricks’
to writing a great romance novel
is always ensuring the reader
can see herself as the heroine.
The heroine might be
a vampire
or
a Regency lady
or
an alien
but the reader should feel
she could easily take
the heroine’s place.
The heroine’s goals
would be the reader’s goals.
What the heroine loves
or hates
would be
what the reader loves
or hates.
The heroine reacts
much like
the reader would
if she was
in the heroine’s place.
The story isn’t about
the heroine.
It is about the reader.
“Tell a story
that is about the listener,
not about you.
Tell a story
that is worth sharing.
Tell a story
that’s unforgettable.
And tell a story
that makes things better.”
Ensure your prospect
can see herself
as the heroine in the story.
Note: This is why representation
in storytelling
is so d*mn important.
It is easier to be the heroine
if we have more aspects
in common with her.
