Insist On Recognition

It happens so often,
both now and in the past,
it is almost a cliché.

A woman does the work.
A man take the credit.

That’s exactly what happened
to Sarah Milov,
a female historian.
She wrote a book
on the history of cigarettes.

Two male historians
were asked to talk about it.
(She was NOT asked.)
They quoted her research
yet never mentioned her name
OR
her book.

Sarah Milov, thankfully,
said something about this.
She stood up for herself
and she stood up
for every woman
who has had her work
credited to someone else.

Make this cliché obsolete.
Fight the good fight
so future generations don’t have to.

Insist on being recognized
for your hard work.
