Why We Want To Be Inclusive

Yesterday, I posted
about how the CES
is now more inclusive
of businesses
run by
and run for women.

Why is this important?
Why can’t the CES
remain an all boys club?

I could give you
the politically correct answer
and say because it is good for the world
and it is a nice thing
to include everyone.

But this is client k.
I don’t bull sh*t anyone here.

The CES wants to include women
because the show has competition.
There are alternatives to the CES.

The media can cover
other more inclusive shows.
Female entrepreneurs and buyers
and other industry folks
can and would
attend these other shows.

If the CES doesn’t include
women,
women and their allies
will go elsewhere.

We’re seeing that
in the Romance Industry.
Romance Writers Of America
doesn’t want to treat
writers of color
fairly
so writers of color and their allies
are going elsewhere.

So many writers are leaving;
it might destroy
Romance Writers of America.

If you’re excluding
or not servicing
groups of people or businesses,
know that there ARE alternatives
(maybe not now
but there will be in the future
because you’re forcing that to happen)
and these excluded entities
WILL go elsewhere.

You are feeding your competition.
