A high level salesperson loved one
is required by his employer
to take two or three online workshops
a month
in topics such as
sales, industry changes,
and new technology.
This is the REQUIREMENT.
Wanting to be better
than average,
he takes more workshops
than he’s required.
He doesn’t list these workshops
on his resume
or tell others he’s taking them.
If you compared his resume
to someone who graduated
from the same university, same class,
you’d be hard pressed
to tell the difference.
But you WILL be able
to tell the difference
when he is competing
for a sale.
He is entering the room
with 30 years of work experience
and 30 years of additional workshops.
That’s over 700 learning events.
THAT will make a difference.
“We’re surrounded by
chances to learn,
and yet,
unless it’s sugarcoated
or sold in the guise
of earning a scarce credential,
most of us would rather
click on another link
and swipe on another video
instead.
The exception:
People who have chosen
to be high performers.
Doctors, athletes,
programmers and leaders
who choose to make a ruckus
understand that continuous learning
is at the heart
of what they’ll need to do.”
What have you learned today?
