A marketing guru
suggested giving employees
a thoughtful gift
as a year end bonus
instead of a monetary gift.
He said
that would be more memorable.
I completely agree.
It WOULD be more memorable.
But memorable isn’t necessarily best
for your employees
or
best for you
as a business builder.
If your employees are struggling
financially,
if the money would make a difference
to their lives,
give them the d*mn money.
If the bonus is more profit sharing
than benevolence,
give them the d*mn money.
They’ve earned it.
If you’re taking your own bonus
in cold hard cash,
give them the d*mn money.
Because they WILL find this out
(your accountant knows
ALL your secrets).
Do what is right
for your employees
and your partners,
not necessarily
what is memorable.
