I can write 2,500 fresh words a day.
That usually takes me 5 hours
and I write all out
for that extent of time.
I’m completely in the groove.
My passion and energy is high.
After 2,500 words,
my brain is fried.
I’ve left it all on the page (screen).
I have nothing remaining creatively.
I then switch to marketing
and other essential
yet less draining
business tasks.
“When we see
passionate people at work
(at a chess tournament,
a brainstorming session,
writing a play or counseling),
we have trouble imagining
doing it for six hours in a row,
never mind eight.”
If you’re working all out,
don’t expect to do that
for a long time.
Don’t expect your employees
to work that way also.
Passionate work
is draining work.
Incorporate that reality
into your schedule.
