Don’t Trade Trust For Likes

A writer (a business builder)
receives a bad review
from a reader
or
a reader says something inappropriate.

The writer then blasts
that reader (with or without using names)
all over social media.

This writer gets likes and shares
and more followers
and she thinks she’s moving
toward success.

Except she’s also
eroding trust.
Readers believe she’s not truthful
when she says she wants
‘honest’ reviews.
They believe she’s not truthful
when she says
she respects readers.
They wonder if they can trust her
to tell a good story
(to deliver a good product).

The writer has secured
more drama seekers.
Other writers might envy
her large number of followers.

But those followers aren’t readers (customers)
and some of the readers she had,
she’s lost with these tactics.

As Seth Godin
shares

“Earning trust outperforms
earning envy.

Don’t trade trust for Likes.
