Maintaining Your Privacy

A buddy,
in the early days of blogging,
was one of
the first female business bloggers.

We didn’t think much
about safety back then.
Despite having the now expected
gazillion male haters
that still come with being
a female business blogger today,
this friend had her home address
posted prominently online.

(That was the advice
offered by many male blogging experts
back then
– post your address online
because legit businesses
and real authorities
did that.)

One evening,
one of those haters paid her a visit,
hurting her in all of the ways
a woman can be hurt.
She almost died.

She shut down her blog
and disappeared.

I don’t post my photo
anywhere online.
Most of my Romance Novel readers
are cool about that.
They understand my need
for privacy.

One of my ‘readers’
magnifies every photo
I take,
looking for my reflection.

Yes, it is scary
but at least ‘she’ tells me
‘she’ does that.

I suspect many people
do it
and DON’T tell me.

Recently, a pop star
was sexually assaulted
after a crazed fan
figured out where she lived.

How did he do that?

He collected photos
taken of her
and studied the reflections
in her EYES.

You become a target
merely by being
a female business builder.

Be careful
when posting photos online.
