has seen the memes
about how women are described
vs
how men are described
for the same actions and reactions.
Men are assertive.
Women are pushy.
Men are passionate.
Women are emotional.
Men are direct.
Women are abrasive.
Men are honest.
Women are bitchy.
And one of my favorites…
Men are experts.
Women are vain.
F*ck that noise.
And noise is what
it is.
It is yet another barrier erected
to try to stop women
from achieving
their vision of success.

we tend to downplay ourselves,
to dim our light,
and we’re kind of conditioned,
socially,
to be humble….
I grew up being
a huge hip-hop fan,
and none of my favorite artists
are humble.
They don’t even know
what that means.
So, in writing my speech,
I decided to
embrace this moment,
in honor of them.”
