Many teachers are asking
folks to send postcards
to their classrooms.
They plan to use
these postcards
as teaching aids.
This is an easy way
to give back.
It costs merely a stamp,
especially if we obtain
the postcards for free
or we make them
from greeting cards
we’ve received.
Since the teachers
are using them
to teach students,
I try to cram as many
potential lessons
into the postcards
as I can.
For example,
the postcard I sent today
depicted a polar bear
(I’m from Canada,
sending a postcard to the US).
The teacher can talk
about polar bears
or the arctic
or climate change.
I wrote
‘Greetings From Canada’
in English,
French,
and Spanish.
The teacher can talk
about the different languages,
about how Canada
has French and English
as official languages
and how the US
doesn’t have
an official language.
My return address label
had a maple leaf on it.
The teacher can talk
about how that is a symbol of Canada,
about maple trees,
about how leaves change color.
The stamp had an image
of the Rocky Mountains.
The teacher can talk
about the Rockies,
about mountains,
about why some are snow-capped.
The teacher can do
all of this
using one postcard.
THIS is how hard
I also want my marketing to work.
I want recipients
to be able to use it
in a variety of ways.
Is your marketing
working this hard?
