Are You Basing Your Goals On Average Results?

One of the most common questions
on writer loops is
“I’ve published a book.
Why haven’t I earned
a million dollars?”

These writers
often end up quitting quickly.

As they should.

They based their decision
to start their business
on the results
of outliers,
flukes,
business builders who got lucky.

Once they received new information,
they made a different decision
(to quit).

I based my decision
to start the Romance Writing Business
on the average results
of successful business builders
in my industry.

The average
eventually successful writer
takes 10 years
after the 1st book is published
to earn a solid income.

Those are the results
I based my financial goals on.

I then adjusted those goals
based on my differences
from the average writer.

I was going to release more books,
for example.
I projected that would
build readership
and income faster.

I was going to market more aggressively.
That should build income faster also.

There was only one of me.
That would slow my income build.

I adjusted my goals
but I started with
the results,
efforts and strategies
of the average business builder
in my industry.

Start with the average results.
Adjust your goals from
that point.
