Know YOUR Early Signs Of Burnout

I have a book (product)
that had several false starts.
I’ve finally figured out
the story
but I’m behind schedule,
a might-not-make-my-deadline
severity of behind.

So I’m pushing it,
working 18 hour days,
7 days a week,
trying to complete this story.

I can push it
for a short duration
but if I push it longer,
I get severe burnout
and that’s not good.

It might take me a month
or more
to recover from burnout
and that will destroy
a product development timeline.

So I watch for signs of it.

There are some common signs
– insomnia,
fatigue,
forgetfulness,
others.

There are also me specific signs.
I know when I have a certain dream,
I’m very close to burningout.

And I stop.
I take a day off.
I sleep in.
I do nothing.

That’s hard
because I have SO many tasks
to accomplish
but if I don’t take a break,
I won’t be accomplishing any of them
for at least a month.

Know your early signs of burnout.

When they occur,
take a day off.

Taking that time
will save you time
in the long run.
