We Can Only Cheat A Customer Once

I’m re-releasing a few stories
this year.
On my blurb,
I make it very clear
the stories are re-releases.

Some writers have told me
I shouldn’t make it that clear,
that if I don’t say it is
a re-release,
I’ll get more sales
of that story.

Yes, I’ll get more sales
because I’ll have cheated
regular readers (customers).

Those readers will be angry
and they SHOULD be angry.
They won’t buy one of my books again.

I plan to publish 4-6 books
a year
for decades.
That sale I might get now
will cost me hundreds of sales later.

“Just because
you can trick people
and swindle a click
doesn’t mean you should.
Because, as we know,
measuring the wrong thing
is worse than measuring
nothing at all.”

We can only cheat
a customer once.
After that,
she’ll no longer
be our customer.

Think before taking that action.
