When I first started
the Romance Novel Business,
I thought I would be
super successful
right away.
I chased trend after trend,
trying to break out.
I was finally successful
(my version of it)
after I released over 150 stories.
If I had known that,
I would have ensured
some of those previously released stories
had been in the same niche,
building a brand
and awareness in that niche.
I still would have jumped around
following trends,
trying for the short term win.
I was convinced
I would strike it rich
and nothing much
would have convinced me
otherwise.
But I also would have ‘invested’
in a niche,
writing every 5th story
in it,
as an example,
guaranteeing a long term win.
“We focus on the days,
making short-term decisions,
instead of being cognizant
of the years.
We ignore the benefits
that short-term pain
can have
in earning us
long-term satisfaction.
Which means that
we often fail to invest,
embracing a shortcut instead.”
I believe
we’re often able
to do both.
We can try for the short term
AND
invest for the long term
over the same time period.
Look at your plan.
Can you do both?
