I was watching a superhero movie.
The female superhero met
a powerful businesswoman
and they had that instant bonding
many of us experience
with women at our levels.
A guy would say something sexist
and their gazes would meet.
They knew what the other was thinking.
They understood what the other woman
was experiencing.
They seemed to be supporting each other.
I was excited and happy
that finally powerful women
were depicted as working well with others.
THAT was my reality
but it is seldom seen in entertainment.
Except the relationship
turned out to be a lie.
One woman was trying to undermine
the other.
Ugh.
(eye roll)
Some of the best mentors
I’ve had
have been other women.
They were tough.
That is needed in a mentor.
But they were also
super supportive
and they KNEW.
They knew what I was going through
because they had gone through it also.
ALL of the best allies
I have now
in the Romance Novel Business
are women.
