One of my writing buddies
writes US set romances
for a romance line
with predominantly international readers.
Recently,
this line strongly ‘encouraged’ her
to set her next stories
outside of the US.
International perception of the US
has shifted.
Combine this with the trade war
and it will be more challenging
for Americans to build
international businesses
(and if you’re selling via the internet,
your business is likely international).
More challenging doesn’t mean impossible.
An American business builder
could partner with an international entity,
emphasize that she’s not like the perception,
act like an international company
(i.e. don’t emphasize location),
or utilize other tactics.
If you’re an American
building an international business,
realize you have more obstacles to overcome
than you had two years ago.
Plan for them.
Overcome them.
You can do this.
