Some of my writer buddies
like to shop around
for the best deals
on covers, editing, formatting,
distributors
with EVERY book release.
They talk about
getting the lowest possible cost
and how every bit of savings
‘adds up.’
They don’t consider
the increased costs
attached to shopping around.
It takes time
and, for writers,
every minute spent doing
other things
is a minute NOT spent
writing the next novel
(manufacturing the next product).
There are also benefits
to dealing with the same vendors.
Because I have X number of books
with my distributor,
they promote me more
with the booksellers.
I’ve benefited from
thousands of dollars
of free promotion
because I use the same vendors.
When you are evaluating
whether or not
to switch vendors,
look at ALL the costs,
not merely the savings.
