A writer recently trademarked
a common word
in Romance Novels.
The trademark somehow was approved
and she has sent notices
to writers who have that word
in their titles.
The word has existed
since the 1540s.
Almost everyone in the industry
has banded together
to fight this
(myself included)
because, if everyone did this,
there would be no words left
to use.
It would destroy the industry
and
it would hurt our readers
(our customers).
Just because it is possible
to do something
doesn’t mean you SHOULD do something.
