There’s an increasingly wide rift
forming in a writing organization I belong to
between the organization and Indie writers.
Successful Indie writers
are doers.
They see a gap in the market.
They fill it with their books.
They have a problem.
They solve it.
The writing organization
is run mostly by writers
who write for publishers.
They’re employees.
They often want to be told
what to write.
The Indie writers
expect the writing organization
to help solve problems.
That isn’t what the writing organization
is good at doing.
So the Indie writers
are already talking about
forming their own organization…
because that’s what they do.
They take action.
If you want to attract doers,
you should be an organization
or someone
that takes action.
Otherwise, you will merely
frustrate them.
