When I first started out
as a writer
and when I first started out
as a new business development gal,
I put up with sh*t.
I did things I didn’t agree with.
I worked for people
I thought were horrible.
I would offer my objections
but then I often sucked up
my anger/disappointment/disapproval
and did what was required
to keep my job/sell books.
Now that I’ve gained more experience,
become a person in demand,
have skills
many other people didn’t,
I still offer my objections.
If I’m ignored,
I’ll often walk away.
People with
money/skills/connections/other assets
have the option to leave.
Remember that
when you’re managing skilled team members
or when you’re being managed.
This post was inspired by
Seth Godin’s post
on Exit, Voice and Loyalty.
I recommend reading it.
