The third story
in one of my most successful series
released last week.
This entire series consisted of
very risky stories.
Readers either loved them
or they hated them.
With the first story,
I had no readership.
If it did poorly,
I lost nothing.
It did very well.
With this third story,
I had an established readership
gained from the risks taken
with the first two stories.
I took another huge risk.
I lost almost all of my readership.
I went to zero again.
Which was
exactly
where I could have been
after the first story.
I could have gone to zero.
Yet this third story ‘failure’
hurt harder
than a first story ‘failure’ would have.
Why?
Because of my expectations,
not because of reality.
I didn’t truly believe
I could go to zero again
even though the risks were the same.
Remember that
when you start to see success.
You COULD go to zero again
and that’s okay.
You’ve been there.
You’ve survived it.
