The average person thinks
“Money is the root of all evil” is correct.
It isn’t.
The complete phrase is
“The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.”
So which do you use in popular genre fiction?
The sentence that makes you, the author, happy
or
the sentence that makes the reader happy?
It comes down to the purpose of communication,
to make yourself understood.
That is best accomplished by using the
language, sayings, grammar
of your target audience.
Whether they are right or wrong.
