Arthur Schopenhauer And The Three Steps Of Truth

German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer
stated that all truth goes
through three steps.

First, it is ridiculed.
Second, it is violently opposed.
Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.

Entrepreneurs work within the first two steps
(by the third step,
all opportunity is gone).

What does this mean?
Don’t expect raving fans
on day one.
You’re going to have to sell your ideas.

  1. Hmm

I think we have spoken about a similar issue to this in the past.

Obvioulsy there needs to be a line between an idea that is not so obvious that there is too much competition and one which nobody needs.

I have read elsewhere that sometimes the best ideas are new twists on products which have been around for a while (just done much better now).

Somethig which nobody understands is a hard sell.

How do you draw the distiction between people not seeing your vission and the market not needing (or not being ready for) your idea.

  2. kleine,

You know I have no new ideas.
    LOL
Everything has been talked about in the past.

    Everyone moves through these stage.

What is key is how quickly.
For a not-as-radical idea (an easy sell),
    this will be rapid.
For an early adopter, this could be rapid
    (maybe within seconds).
For someone wedded and bedded to the old ways,
or for a product that simply does not work,
    this could be never.
